The updated Maruti SuzukiXL6 has just been launched in India and the prices range from Rs 11.29 lakh for the base trim to Rs 14.55 lakh for the top-spec model (ex-showroom). Maruti Suzuki began accepting bookings for the MPV earlier this month for Rs 11,000, with the carmaker already receiving over 3,500 bookings so far.
With the introduction of the facelift, Maruti Suzuki has expanded the XL6’s range with three trim levels now on offer – Zeta, Alpha and Alpha+. We have compiled all the features available on each of these variants below.
Powering the refreshed XL6 is a new 1.5-litre DualJet engine, with Maruti Suzuki's smart-hybrid system with start-stop technology (same unit as the one in the Ertiga facelift). The unit produces 103hp and 136.8Nm. The engine comes paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a new 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.
2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6: competition check
In terms of competition, the new XL6 continues to rival the diesel-powered Mahindra Marazzo, Kia Carens and Hyundai Alcazar (available with both petrol and diesel engine options) and its sibling – the Ertiga facelift.

424250Kia Carens CNG spied; could launch this year
As fuel prices continue to rise, carmakers are now adding CNG-powered models to their mainstream passenger vehicle line-up. With Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors continuing to add CNG-powered models to their portfolio, Kia India seems to be eager to get its slice of the pie. A CNG-powered Carens has been spotted on test, which follows the sighting of a Sonet CNG test mule that was seen recently.
With the Carens CNG, Kia will have a third fuel option in the model's range, along with the existing petrol and diesel powertrains. As the spy photo suggests, Kia is likely to introduce the CNG with the more powerful 140hp, 1.4-litre turbo engine.
Kia Carens CNG to rival Ertiga CNG, XL6 CNG
Could hit the showrooms this year
CNG option likely to be available in multiple variants
Kia Carens CNG: what does the spy photo suggest?
The spy photo clearly shows the Carens with a CNG tank in its boot. Kia's choice of offering the Carens with the 1.4-litre engine, is likely to give it a power advantage over the 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol motor. The engine will likely be paired to the 6-speed manual transmission. Apart from the two petrol engines, the Carens is also available with a 115hp, 1.5-litre diesel unit.
While almost every CNG-powered model in India comes with a naturally aspirated petrol engine, Kia India seems to be bucking the trend and taking the turbo-petrol route, with the Carens CNG being the second turbo-petrol model being readied. The Sonet CNG test mule that was spotted recently also seems to be equipped with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine.
Kia Carens CNG: rivals in India
Kia could introduce the Carens CNG sometime this year, following the launch of the Sonet CNG. On its arrival, the Carens CNG will take on the facelifted Maruti-Suzuki Ertiga CNG. Maruti Suzuki could also consider going the CNG route for its recently facelifted premium MPV – the XL6.

Maruti Suzuki has launched the XL6 facelift, just a few days after it introduced the updated Ertiga in our market. The XL6 MPV, which is retailed through Nexa dealerships only, gets a few cosmetic changes, more features, a new engine and a new automatic gearbox with this update.

Maruti has launched the XL6 in three trim levels and has priced it from Rs 11.29 lakh to Rs 14.55 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Compared to its rivals, the XL6 is significantly more affordable than the Alcazar and Innova Crysta as both their starting prices are higher than even the XL6’s top-spec version. However, the Ertiga and Carens both have a lower starting price than the XL6. The Ertiga is comfortably the most affordable option here and, interestingly, the XL6’s range starts where the Ertiga’s ends. Though the Carens is cheaper at the lower end, it is much more expensive than the XL6 at the top-end. This is down to the Carens having a turbo-petrol engine option and a sophisticated dual-clutch auto gearbox option, both of which aren’t offered on any of the others. Overall, the XL6’s prices come across as being quite competitive.

When compared to the Ertiga, the XL6 is longer, wider, taller and has larger wheels but the two models have the same wheelbase and ground clearance.
As for the rivals, the Kia Carens has the longest wheelbase in this comparison, and the Hyundai Alcazar has the highest ground clearance and the largest tyres here. Meanwhile, the Innova Crysta is comfortably the largest overall here. The Toyota is the longest, tallest and widest of the lot, but it has the least amount of ground clearance.

Perhaps the biggest change on the XL6 is the inclusion of a new 1.5-litre DualJet petrol engine with start-stop technology, which made its debut on the refreshed Ertiga earlier this month. This engine uses two injectors per cylinder, giving it greater control over fuel injection, and, as a result, greater efficiency. It puts out 103hp at 6,000rpm and 136.8Nm at 4,400rpm, which is 2hp and 1.2Nm down on the outgoing 1.5 engine.
Gearbox options for the updated XL6 include a 5-speed manual and a new 6-speed torque-converter automatic with paddle shifters, which replaces the ageing 4-speed unit of the outgoing model. The XL6 facelift is claimed to do 20.97kpl with the manual gearbox and 20.27kpl with the auto.
The Carens comes with two petrol options, both of which have been borrowed from the Seltos SUV. First is the 115hp, 144Nm, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated unit that’s paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox only. The Carens has the distinction of being the only one to offer a turbo-petrol option here – the 140hp, 1.4-litre direct-injection unit. The Carens’ turbo-petrol can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
As for the rivals, the Innova Crysta has the largest displacement engine, which is also the most powerful and torquey (166hp, 245Nm). The Toyota’s petrol engine can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The Alcazar is not far behind the Innova Crysta, with its 159hp, 191Nm, 2.0-litre petrol unit. Gearbox options for the Alcazar petrol include a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed torque converter AT.
It’s also worth noting that the Carens, Alcazar and Innova Crysta come with diesel engine options, while the Ertiga gets a CNG option.
So that’s how the updated Maruti XL6 stacks up against its rivals on the spec sheet. But should it be the MPV you opt for? We can only answer that once we’ve compared them in the real world, so stay tuned.

Maruti Suzuki has launched the updated XL6 in India at a starting price of Rs 11.29 lakh, going up to Rs 14.55 lakh for the top-spec Alpha+ AT variant (ex-showroom, Delhi). The biggest update on the six-seater MPV is the upgraded 1.5-litre petrol engine with DualJet technology and mild-hybrid system paired to a new 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. There are also a few cosmetic changes inside out.

Cosmetic updates on XL6 include updated grille, new alloys

2022 Maruti XL6: what’s new?
Positioned as a more premium alternative to the Ertiga, cosmetic updates on the XL6 only include a mildly updated grille with more chrome, a new chrome bar on the tail gate and new 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Just like the new Ertiga, cosmetic updates have been kept rather minimal. It also gets new dual-tone colour options – silver, brown and red – with a contrasting black roof.
Maruti has also equipped the new XL6 facelift with four airbags as standard, 360-deg parking camera on top-spec trim and Maruti's upgraded SmartPlay Pro infotainment system operated through a 7-inch touchscreen. It also includes connected car features called Suzuki Connect that offers voice assistant functions. Another welcome addition are ventilated front seats that'll be a boon in our weather conditions.
Other highlights include new telescopic adjustment for steering wheel, new ambient footwell lighting, new front door lamps, full-LED headlamps, second-row captain seats, automatic AC, cooled cupholders, new tyre pressure monitoring system, and ESP and hill hold assist as standard.
2022 Maruti XL6: powertrain details
The biggest change is, of course, under the skin. The new XL6 comes with a new 1.5-litre DualJet engine, which uses uses two injectors per cylinder, giving it greater control over the fuel injection, and greater power and efficiency as a result. It also features Maruti's smart-hybrid technology with start-stop technology.
It puts out 103hp at 6,000rpm and 136.8Nm at 4,400rpm, which is 2hp and 1.2Nm down on the outgoing 1.5 engine. The XL6 is, then, the second Maruti model to be offered with the DualJet 1.5-litre engine, and is expected to make its way into bigger Maruti models in the future.
The other big highlight is, of course, the new 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with paddle shifters, which first debuted with the recently launched Ertiga. The standard 5-speed manual gearbox has been carried over as is. The updated XL6 is claimed to do 20.97kpl with the manual gearbox and 20.27kpl with the auto.
2022 Maruti XL6: rivals
The new XL6 will rival the likes of the diesel-powered Mahindra Marazzo, Kia Carens, and its own sibling – the newly launched Ertiga. The starting price of the updated XL6 is Rs 1.81 lakh more than the outgoing model, which started at Rs 9.48 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). But that's also because Maruti is offering the new XL6 only on well-specced Zeta and Alpha trims. The MPV will be sold through Maruti’s Nexa line of premium dealerships.

4240622022 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga: new vs old
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga facelift has just been launched in India, with prices starting at Rs 8.35 lakh (ex-showroom, India). While the changes to the updated Ertiga over the pre-facelift model are subtle, we have compared the two cars to see exactly what’s changed.

Gets new 7.0-inch SmartPlay Pro touchscreen and Suzuki Connect
Uses new 1.5-litre DualJet petrol engine; gets 6-speed auto box
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga new vs old: exterior design

On the styling front, there is little to set the Ertiga facelift apart from the older model, as the silhouette and overall proportions and looks have remained largely unchanged. The easiest way to tell the refreshed Ertiga apart is from the new front grille with an embedded 'winged' chrome trim, the dual-tone alloy wheels and the chrome garnish on the tailgate. Besides these, Maruti also has two new colours on offer – Splendid Silver and Dignity Brown – which are accompanied by the previously available Auburn Red, Magma Grey, Arctic White and Oxford Blue shades.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga new vs old: interior and features
Inside, the Ertiga facelift carries forward the same dashboard design and overall cabin layout as the pre-facelift MPV. What’s new is the Metallic Teak faux wood finish on the dashboard as well as the new dual-tone seat upholstery.
Pre-facelift Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (top), new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (bottom)
Other noteworthy changes on the inside include the fully loaded ZXI+ trim’s new 7.0-inch SmartPlay Pro touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, as well as ‘Suzuki Connect’ connected car tech with over 40 features and an onboard voice assistant. The features list also includes cruise control, auto headlamps, a rear parking camera, electrically foldable ORVMs, air-cooled cupholders and AC vents for all three rows. There are a number of safety features as well like four airbags, ABS with EBD and BA, hill-hold assist, ESP and ISOFIX mounts.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga new vs old: powertrains
One of the key changes on the Ertiga facelift is the adoption of the new 1.5-litre DualJet engine with start-stop technology that produces 103hp and 136.8Nm, which is 2hp and 1.2Nm lower than what the outgoing 1.5 engine produced. As the engine’s name suggests, this unit makes use of two injectors per cylinder, which in theory should make it punchier and more efficient. The Ertiga facelift also happens to be the first Maruti Suzuki model in India to use the 1.5-litre DualJet engine, a unit that is expected to be used by the brand's other offerings going forward. The new Ertiga is also available with a CNG variant that utilises the same engine, though here, the output drops to 87hp and 121.5Nm when run on CNG and 100hp and 136Nm when run in petrol mode.
Pre-facelift Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (top), new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (bottom).
As standard, the Ertiga facelift comes equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox (with a claimed mileage of 20.51kpl) like the older model, however, the updated MPV has swapped out the old 4-speed torque-converter automatic for a new 6-speed unit with paddle shifters (with claimed mileage of 20.30kpl). The Ertiga CNG only comes paired to a 5-speed manual and is claimed to return 26.11km/kg.

4241932022 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga price, variants explained
Maruti Suzuki recently launched the all-new Ertiga priced between Rs 8.35 lakh-12.79 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). While exterior and interior cosmetic updates are very minimal, the biggest update on the new Ertiga lies under its hood. Like most new Maruti models, the Ertiga now benefits from DualJet engine technology and is also the first model to debut Maruti’s new 6-speed automatic gearbox in India.
New Ertiga available in four trims: LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+
Factory-fitted CNG kit offered on mid-spec VXi and ZXi
Just like the outgoing model, the new Ertiga continues to be offered in four trims – LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+. Powered by a sole 1.5-litre engine, the Ertiga can run on both, petrol and CNG. The CNG kit is being offered on the mid-spec VXi and ZXi trims. In the previous iteration of the Ertiga, the CNG kit was only offered on the second-from-base VXi.
All four trims come with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. Meanwhile, the new 6-speed automatic gearbox is being offered on all but the base LXi. As for the engine itself, the new 1.5-litre K15C DualJet four-cylinder engine produces 103hp and 136.8Nm when run on petrol and 87hp and 121.5Nm on CNG. It continues to feature Maruti’s smart hybrid technology, and the 6-speed automatic gearbox even features paddle shifters.
Maruti claims a fuel efficiency of 20.51kpl with the manual gearbox and 20.30kpl with the new automatic gearbox. Meanwhile, the CNG variants are claimed to return 26.11km/kg.
In all, the new Ertiga is available in a total of nine variants. Additionally, there’s also the fleet-only petrol and CNG-powered Tour M variants.
Here is a break-up of all features available on each variant of the Ertiga:
The Maruti Ertiga rivals the likes of the Kia Carens (Rs 9.59 lakh-17.69 lakh, ex-showroom) and the diesel-only Mahindra Marazzo (Rs 12.80 lakh-14.92 lakh, ex-showroom). Higher variants of the Ertiga are also likely to see a price overlap with the upcoming base variants of the Maruti XL6.
Upcoming Maruti Suzuki cars, SUVs: 2022 and beyond
Maruti has many more launches lined up in the following months. This includes the XL6 facelift, the Baleno CNG, new Vitara Brezza, and DualJet-equipped Ignis and S-Presso. The carmaker is also working on an all-new Creta-rivalling midsize SUV that is being co-developed with Toyota and is expected to launch later this year. The much-awaited Jimny is expected to come to Maruti Suzuki showrooms as well sometime next year.
Which variant of the new Ertiga are you most likely to opt for? Let us know in the comments below.

424180Maruti Suzuki Ertiga facelift launched at Rs 8.35 lakh
Maruti Suzuki has launched the updated Ertiga at Rs 8.35 lakh. The Ertiga now gets an upgraded 1.5-litre petrol engine with DualJet technology and a mild-hybrid system paired to a new 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with paddleshifters. Along with it, the Ertiga gets a restyled front end and changes to the interior.

Ertiga CNG available in two variants
2022 Maruti Ertiga: what’s new?
In terms of design, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga gains a new front grille with an embedded 'winged' chrome trim, new dual-tone alloy wheels and chrome garnish on the tailgate. There's two new colours to choose from as well - Splendid Silver and Dignity Brown. Inside the cabin, the Ertiga facelift recieves a new Metallic Teak Wooden finish (faux wood) on the dashboard and a new dual-tone seat fabric.
2022 Maruti Ertiga: powertrain and fuel efficiency details
The biggest change however, is under the hood as the Ertiga comes with a new 1.5-litre DualJet engine with start-stop technology. This engine uses two injectors per cylinder, giving it greater control over fuel injection, and, as a result, greater power and efficiency. It puts out 103hp at 6000rpm and 136.8Nm at 4400rpm, which is 2hp and 1.2Nm down on the outgoing 1.5 engine.
The same engine also powers the Vitara SUV sold overseas, albeit as a full hybrid with a combined power of 148hp. In India, however, Maruti Suzuki will not offer a full hybrid set-up, but it does get the start-stop technology. Until now, Maruti Suzuki was offering the DualJet technology only in their 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre K-Series engines. This would be the first time that the carmaker is offering it on its larger 1.5-litre motor. The same engine is expected to go in other, bigger Maruti cars.
A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard. Additionally, the ageing 4-speed torque-converter automatic of the outgoing model has been replaced by a new 6-speed unit with paddleshifters. The Ertiga facelift is claimed to do 20.51kpl with the manual gearbox and 20.30kpl with the auto.
Maruti has also introduced a CNG option to the new Ertiga's lineup, using the same 1.5 DualJet engine. It produces 87hp and 121.5Nm when run on CNG and 100hp and 136Nm when run in petrol mode. The Ertiga facelift CNG comes with a 5-speed manual only and is claimed to do 26.11km/kg.
2022 Maruti Ertiga: features on offer
The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga facelift, in its top-spec ZXI+ trim, is equipped with a 7-inch SmartPlay Pro infotainment touchscreen which gets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. It also gets the Suzuki Connect connected car tech with over 40 features and an onboard voice assistant. Other features include 4 airbags, ABS with EBD and BA, hill-hold assist, ESP, ISOFIX mounts, parking camera, cruise control, auto headlamps, electrically foldable ORVMs, air-cooled cupholders and AC vents for all three rows.
Maruti Suzuki launches on the horizon
The new Ertiga is a part of Maruti Suzuki’s plan to launch six new models by mid-2022. These include the Baleno CNG, updated Vitara Brezza, and DualJet-equipped Ignis and S-Presso. Later in the year, Maruti Suzuki will also launch the all-new Creta-rivalling midsize SUV that is being developed in collaboration with Toyota.
2022 Maruti Ertiga rivals
The Ertiga rivals the likes of the Mahindra Marazzo, Kia Carens, and its sibling – the XL6 – which is also due for a facelift.

4240612022 Maruti Suzuki XL6 variants revealed ahead of April 21 launch
We had previously reported that Maruti Suzuki has started accepting bookings for the updated XL6, which will launch on April 21. Now, details of its variants have surfaced. Like the outgoing model, the refreshed MPV will be offered in two trims – Zeta and Alpha. It will be powered by a more fuel-efficient 1.5-litre petrol engine mated to a new optional 6-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. The XL6 will continue to be sold through Maruti’s Nexa line of dealerships.

Automatic gearbox will be available on both
Will get a more fuel efficient petrol engine and new 6-speed automatic gearbox
2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6: variant details
Like the outgoing model, the facelifted XL6 will come in two trims – Zeta and Alpha. Both will get the option of an automatic gearbox, along with the standard 5-speed manual, taking the total variant count to four. The carmaker is unlikely to offer a CNG variant at launch, but it could come later as Maruti is looking to offer CNG variants for their Nexa range of cars.
2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6: what will be new?
Positioned as a more premium alternative to the Ertiga, the new XL6 is unlikely to see any major styling tweaks on the outside, except for bigger alloy wheels that are similar to the ones seen on the Suzuki XL7 in Indonesia. It is under the skin where major updates sit in the form of a new K15C 1.5-litre DualJet petrol engine that makes 115hp, which is 10hp more than the outgoing K15B 1.5-litre unit.
The engine will be mated to a new optional 6-speed automatic gearbox, replacing the old 4-speed unit. Fuel efficiency is expected to be better than its predecessor, thanks to the new gearbox as well as Maruti’s tried and tested DualJet technology, which also sees duty in cars like the Celerio, Dzire and the newly launched Baleno.
On the inside, expect a new upholstery and subtle changes to the trim, along with an all-new infotainment interface, similar to the Baleno. The Alpha variant will also get a 360-degree camera. A teaser video confirms that the new XL6 will not get a sunroof.
2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6: rivals
Once launched, the new Maruti Suzuki XL6 will rival the likes of the Kia Carens, Mahindra Marazzo, and even face some competition from the updated version of its sibling – the Ertiga. Prices of the facelifted XL6 will be announced on April 21.

2022 Maruti Ertiga: what will be new?
As seen in the latest teaser image, as well as the spy shots before, the Ertiga will feature certain design tweaks like reworked bumper and a new grille that is similar to the new Baleno. According to the teaser video, the MPV will carry forward the existing beige theme for the interiors, and updates to the cabin are expected to be minimum. The biggest change is likely to be the new 7-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system with 'Suzuki Connect' connected car tech.
The 2022 Ertiga will have more substantial changes under the hood. Maruti has confirmed that the new Ertiga will be equipped with a new K-series 1.5-litre Dual VVT engine, corroborating our previous report. Maruti Suzuki may carry forward the Smart Hybrid technology with the facelift. The MPV will also ditch the outdated optional 4-speed automatic gearbox in favour of a new 6-speed unit that will feature paddle-shifters. The 5-speed manual gearbox is expected to be carried over.
Upcoming Maruti Suzuki cars, SUVs: 2022 and beyond
Maruti Suzuki plans to launch six new models by mid-2022. These include the new Ertiga and updated XL6 along with the Baleno CNG, new Vitara Brezza, and DualJet-equipped Ignis and S-Presso.
